Insomnia

Time dilates
in the desert night
when sleep
is the arrogant loved one
that I’ve courted in vain
wished, chased
for too long
till the first noises,
distraught cheeps
of sleepless birds in the dark
shortly before dawn
Now it takes me weary
- ambiguous lover -
and when the world awakes,
it, then,
won’t let me go.
With heavy arms
it tightens life to the bed
And it whispers to the ear, liar
promises of oblivion
in the icy spirals
of the morning dreams
