For two years, Laurel Gordon of Elma, Wash., has been donning a tiara as her county's dairy ambassador. Now she has her eyes on the statewide title, despite one drawback: She's lactose intolerant. Gordon, whose older sisters also held the title of Grays Harbor County dairy ambassador, developed lactose intolerance two years ago, The Daily World of Aberdeen reports. Unless the 18-year-old takes special pills, her body is unable to digest milk. She mostly opts for soy milk. "I'm kind of a joke around my friends" she tells the newspaper. But no one challenges Gordon's expertise on the benefits of milk: She grew up on a dairy farm that has been in the family for 150 years. Like any good ambassador, Gordon stays on message, saying that whipped cream was the hardest thing to give up. Rice-based "whipped cream" the dairy princess says, just doesn't cut it... Usa today
