Man to stand trial for trying to feed sausage rolls to police horses
A man has been taken to court for trying to feed sausage rolls to police horses. Francis Kelly of Govanhill is accused of giving the pastries to the animals, actions that saw him being arrested. Prosecutors allege he behaved in a "threatening or abusive manner" by attempting to feed the horses the spiced pork pastry snack. The 41-year-old will now stand trial in February in a type of case rarely seen in Scottish courts. The incident is said to have taken place in Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow, on September 26. The breach of the peace accusation also claims Kelly "adopted an aggressive stance" towards the officers in charge of the horses when told to put the sausage rolls away. He denies the charge against him and will return to the city's Justice of the Peace court next year for his trial. A source close to the case said he would be fighting the charge. The insider added: "His view is simply that he thought the horses looked hungry, daft as that sounds"… Stv
