America, America... Here in Europe (and in the rest of the world I guess) we watch with great interest the process taking place this year in the US to elect the most powerful person on the planet. I am a liberal for the Democrats, hence I asked myself who would I choose as the Democrats' candidate and took a couple of quiz-test on the web.

In this first one, Kucinich came on the top, followed by Clinton and Obama head-to-head and fourth came Edwards. But in the meantime Kucinich gave up the presidential race to focus on the Congress, therefore I underwent this second quiz-test which rules out Kucinich, and the result is Clinton and Edwards on top, head-to-head, with Obama a close third.

The latter has just won in South Carolina, with Clinton coming second and Edwards now in serious troubles: they say he's virtually out at this stage... But I'd like to spend a word to support and encourage him not to give up, perhaps just because it would be much more interesting to keep on watching a three-horse race rather than the obvious two only, don't you agree?

Miss Welby:

Love the blog, although some of those saucy lady pictures make my me lust in my GC(Cubed)R christian heart.

The General is, like you, way ahead of my game in terms of doing crazy internets tubes things, but nobody's my better in terms of thinking crazy things.

I can't read Italian but I have a strange request. I'm always trying to find someone who will translate Roy Orbison's song, "Running Scared" into Italian, because it sounds so operatic. Is that too ridiculous to consider. I'll check back.

Hi Jesus' General, you're welcome. now, be aware that "mi cago sotto" is not exactly the literal translation of the title, but it rather means "I shit myself", which sounds rude but IMHO better represents in Italian what the feelings of the author were... (a great one with unforgettable super-group Traveling Wilburys!)

TI SEI GIRATA E SEI VENUTA VIA CON ME :)

to Mauro: ciao,
it's not just Caroline, more importantly is Ted as well (see your colleague Caretto on the Corriere).
I guess some Americans see the Kennedys as a "monarchic dynasty".

I only wish I was the 110% heterosexual, Jesus' General. I am but his humble chauffeur and cheif mechanic. Thank you so much for the song. You are, of course, correct about the feelings of Mr. Orbison in that instance.

The Kennedy's may have been considered a monarchial dynasty by a part of the electorate. However. much like the Lodged, Cabots, Hearsts, etc., they were "old money" royalty. The nouveau riche, and crude in the extreme, Bush Clan are more in line with that idea. They are sort of a cross between the Borgias and the Snoipes family of Faulkner novels--lacking the charm of both.

Ciao Miss Welby!

LATE-BREAKING BULLETIN! America's Strong Man Benito Mussolini Jr. just finished a very low 3rd in the Florida primary election, and all the big national newspapers say il commedia finito for Rudy Giuliani.

Meanwhile ... uhhh ... is Italy's Mussolini Jr. about to return to power??? What happened??? Cogliones del Mondo, Unite!

Miss Welby, do you know about a magical land called lo Stato di Mangiare? You should. It is a beautiful place of enlightenment and peace, and it has the dreamiest postage stamps. Also it is the world leader in dirigible transportation, with hundreds of these gentle cloud-floating passenger aircraft dragging their cigar-shaped shadows across the surface of the Earth. If you want to know more I will tell you all about lo Stato di Mangiare.

LA Commedia finito! Sorry. In English, chairs and fire hydrants and pencils and genres of theater do not have sexual organs ordinarily.

That Nedda ... she was really a slut and was not very nice to the feelings of her husband. I like Teresa Stratas' Nedda, she makes a clown want to reach for his knife.

I am not thrilled about any of the candidates running for president but will cast my vote for Barak Obama as he appears to at least be sincere and didn't vote to invade Iraq.

I am a progressive and there are none running for office. We have to choose between three conservative hawks - a Morman, John the "100 yr war" McCain ( poor thing he never got treated for PTSD after being a tortured prisoner of war), Hillary Clinton, and a moderate, Barak Obama.

No one is discussing any real issues like the impending US war against Iran, Israel's 200 Nukes, the extensive use of depleted uranium by the Americans and the British and the cancers and birth defects it causes, or the Vietnam carpet-style bombing missions being flown by American flyboys over rural Iraq. Iraq reeks of a slow genocide.

The televised debates are all show biz and bullshit but most Americans eat it up and consider themselves informed enough to vote. Hillary voted for that war and stated in tonight's debate that one reason she did so was to avoid the United Nations having any say over American actions. She is a unilateralist and has supported most of Bush's actions both foreign and domestic.

Democracy is being replaced by fascism and very few Americans realize it or would even care if they did realize it. I have hope for Europe - Europe is evolving. America is moving backwards towards fascism with a Middle Ages mind set and "values" system. Can't question religion or the government in America anymore - it's unpatriotic! Anyone care to burn a heretic?

I added you to my blogroll - thanks for the same.

I'm voting in tuesdays primary for Obama. I would have preferred to vote for Edwards, but alas, that was not to be!

Thanks for adding me to the blogroll! I'll return the favor!

Son of a mill worker John Edwards (who is NOT gay) took time out from primping his hair to drop out of the Democrat race. This is sad news and I hope that John and Elizabeth can overcome their grief whilst touring their 28,000 sq ft mansion.

Kitchen Window Woman --

Uhhh have you looked closely at and listened carefully to Ron Paul? More than that, check out the size of his campaign contributions -- and not a penny from corporations or PACs or lobbyists, just envelopes stuffed with $5 and $10 from ordinary American voters.

Before you write him off as a goof, think about what we've all been educated, for 2 or 3 generations, to accept: That government can solve all our problems, that government must grow and grow and never shrink.

Paul's the only Republican candidate to promise to end the Iraq War immediately -- and I don't really have much confidence that any of the Dems will really end the Iraq War promptly, either. Kucinich just left the race.

There are some startlingly honest, clean and admirable things about Ron Paul. Check him out.

thanks for the comments, particularly to Vleeptron: it's good to have someone on the GOP side in order to have an interesting debate, and yes, I must agree that Ron Paul is a decent nice guy, although he has little chances... and this is good for the Dems as a Romney or a McCain would be a bless for them :)

good that Giuliani is out, shame that Edwards is out too, but on the other hand this means something revolutionary for the planet: the next president of the most powerful country will probably either be a woman or a non-white. they may not be the best, but it's a revolutionary change in culture
