Dear Prime Minister,
we are writing to You as Italian MPs on
behalf of Leyla Zana, a Kurdish independent MP for Diyarbakir and a
member of the People's Labour Party (HEP) who has received death threaths
because of her political activities.
We wish to express our concern about the
fact that a democratically elected representative of the people should be
subjected to threats of this kind.
We know that Leyla Zana is also one of a
group of 22 Kurdish Mps whose immunity the Ankara Chief Prosecutor is seeking
to have lifted so that they may be tried on charges of separatism which carry
the death penalty.
We urge You to take prompt action so
that Leyla Zana's physical safety be guaranteed and her parliamentary immunity
be not lifted.

Ministro,
Le scriviamo in
qualità di parlamentari italiani in favore di Leyla Zana, parlamentare
indipendente curda eletta nella circoscrizione di DIYARBAKIR, membro del Partito
Laburista Popolare, che Š stata minacciata di morte a causa delle sue attività
politiche.
Desideriamo esprimere
la nostra preoccupazione per il fatto che una rappresentante del popolo,
democraticamente eletta, sia sottoposta a questo tipo di minacce.
Sappiamo che Leyla
Zana fa inoltre parte di un gruppo di 22 parlamentari curdi cui il Pubblico
Ministero di Ankara sta cercando di revocare l'immunità affinché possano essere
processati per reati di separatismo che comportano la pena di morte.
Sollecitiamo
un'immediata azione affinché sia garantita l'integrità fisica di Leyla Zana e
non le sia revocata l'immunità parlamentare.
